18. května bylo Uruguayi policií zadrženo více než 340 fotbalových fanoušků při nepokojích v Montevideo, které se staly v úterý pozdě večer po druhém závěrečném zápase šampionátu uruguayské fotbalové soutěže mezi týmy Peňarol a Nacional. Rozehnat řádící fanoušky se povedlo policii až po použítí speciálního vybavení a gumových projektilů.
